ARCHÆOS (arkeos) is a visual poetry journey exploring the beauty of preservation and decay of human history. The pictures offer a different perspective of ancient ruins and monuments, not as individuals objects for sightseeing, but as artefacts of preservation of historical memory.
Through this work, the artist tries to re-contextualise these sites, not in a clean and reconstructed display which aims to show the place on a state that resembles their original form and use, but by showcasing also the scaffolding, boxes of marked stones, and sites completely overtaken by nature, they become living part of their own archaeological process, and we are able to understand these sites as part of a process of creation and reconstruction.
This work is currently on display at Byroo (Laivurinrinne 1, 00120 Helsinki)
